History

Human Life

Tiernan Larkin was born in Kenmare, Ireland to James Hunter and Caitlin Larkin. The younger half-brother to Jonas Hunter, Tiernan always felt that he played second fiddle to his older brother for his father's affections. After his father's untimely murder at the hands of several local thugs Jonas was sent off to an orphanage by his step-mother (who also felt scorned by her husband's devotion to his son), however Tiernan never recovered from his father's violent death. Eventually earning a reputation in his hometown as a bully and a brute and constantly running afoul of the local police force Tiernan began to believe the world was out to get him and started to lash out at those around him.

Shortly after graduating high school Tiernan's mother Caitlin died in an accident and Tiernan decided it was time to start off new. Moving to Dublin, Tiernan joined the local Fire Brigade and for a time led a very successful life in the city. However eventually Tiernan's darker side began to take root in his new life, first by driving off those who dared to get close to Tiernan and eventually began interfering with his work, resulting in his termination from his post at the firehouse.

One drunken night in a local pub Tiernan was greeted by someone who seemed to know a great deal about him (Arkady Tsepes). This stranger indulged Tiernan's drunken rants and validated much of what was spoken- all of Tiernan's problems were a result of his older brother, Jonas.

In Secret Service to the Dragon

Waking the next morning Tiernan found himself in an unknown place. Exploring his surroundings it became quite apparent to him that he was no longer in Ireland. Meeting up with the stranger from the night before Tiernan was told he would be given a chance to reclaim his life from his brother. Arkady explained that at one time Jonas worked for him but subsequently mutinied against the Illuminati and had begun poaching several of his allies from the organization. Stating that he needed a new enforcer Arkady offered the job to Tiernan who graciously accepted the opportunity.

Tiernan was introduced to the details of the vampire civilization and was subsequently turned by Malcanthet, the Sovereign of the Chimerae. Joining the Covenant as Arkady's eyes and ears within the organization Tiernan began training with the other Chimerae and secretly meeting with Malcanthet and receiving Demonic infusions of power to augment his own natural strength and durability.

Soon Tiernan was powerful enough for the Three Vipers to begin using him for their own ends. Sending him out to acquire the Demon's Eye from the Pazitori in Eastern Europe, Tiernan proved himself to the Vipers by slaughtering the entire clan (save for one young woman who wasn't in camp at the time) in pursuit of the artifact. Returning triumphantly Tiernan was accepted into the inner circle of the Covenant.

The Fall of the Vipers

During Arkady's Ascension Ceremony OMEGA (led by Jonas) interfered and not only was able to kill both Malcanthet and Xi Zhou Chen but also overpower and kill Arkady Tsepes despite his success in bonding with the Demon's Eye. After the battle Tiernan returned to the site of the ceremony and retrieved the bodies of Malcanthet and Xi Zhou Chen, knowing their demonic grafts would allow them to be reborn in the proper conditions were met.

Thanks to his heritage (descendant of Azrael on his mother's side) and his proximity to the battle, Tiernan was soon overcome by the soul of Azrael as it infused with him. Unfortunately for Tiernan the soul of the Angelus was not pure, but instead tainted by the corrupted essence of the demon general Belial. Feeding on his hatred and his demon infusions Belial's influence was able to overpower Tiernan's psyche, resulting in Tiernan beginning to call himself Testament.

Declaration of War

Testament soon received word from his allies within the Covenant that OMEGA had called a meeting with the new Sovereigns of the Bloodlines in an attempt to broker peace among the vampires. Knowing that he needed to strike quickly Testament was able to discover the location of the meeting and crash the summit on the last day of the meeting.

Wielding the power of the Demon's Eye, Testament ascended to his own version of Melachim Form, and wreaked havoc among the participants. Still reeling from the battle with Arkady and unable to ascend himself, Jonas was no match for the brute strength of Testament. Knowing this, Testament released Jonas with the knowledge that he could come for him at any time. After the attack the summit quickly dissolved as each side accused the other of bringing Testament to the meeting to interfere in the peace talks.

After the peace summit Testament began a two-fold mission:

  1. Form an army of his own that could stand against the might of OMEGA.
  2. Retrieve the essences of Lilith and Asmodeus from the Stygian Vaults below Enoch and find a way to resurrect the demon generals on Earth.

Travelling to the abandoned demon city Necropolis in modern Thailand, Testament was pleasantly surprised by what he found there- a crypt filled with demon-tainted Strigoi. Able to exert his will over the insane strigoi Testament was able to quickly create the army necessary to stand against OMEGA and its leader, Jonas Hunter.

The opportunity to make headway on Testament's second objective came during a raid on a den of stray strigoi in London, England. Responding to a sighting of strigoi in London OMEGA dispatched a team led by Slayer to look into the situation (at the time OMEGA was unaware of Testament's connection to the Strigoi). As both Testament's warriors and OMEGA were tracking the strigoi the two teams came into conflict. Surrounded by ravenous strigoi Slayer was quick to broker a deal with Testament, in the process sacrificing his human teammates to the strigoi.

The Mother of All Bargains

Sending Slayer back to OMEGA as a double operative, Testament was able to keep an eye on the inner goings of the organization and quickly learned of Jonas' quest to enlist the assistance of other "Prodigals". Interfering as best as he could without it becoming obvious that he had eyes inside OMEGA, Testament was able to successfully cull several existing Prodigal vampires into his forces (including both Anton Wilk and Oblivion) before Jonas knew any better.

Eventually learning of Jonas's plan to return to Enoch to claim the Reaver Testament instructed Slayer to accompany Jonas on the trip and to betray him once they reach the city. While in the city Slayer was to free and collect the essences of both Lilith and Asmodeus and return to Testament. Slayer was largely successful in his ruse however Jonas was able to discover Slayer's ploy prior to him completing his mission. As a result Slayer retreated to Testament's ship after releasing only the essence of Lilith, leaving the essence of Asmodeus within the Stygian Vaults.

Knowing that he would have to find a host for Lilith’s essence Testament began searching for the woman who would become the new Mother of All Demons, eventually setting on Jillian Morningstar, one of the leaders of the Ordo Divinus Venatorum in the Vatican.

Siege of the Holy City

Knowing that Jonas was aware of the buildup of strigoi forces in Italy Testament intentionally leaked information regarding a supposed demonic artifact buried in the Vatican catacombs. Jonas would then assume that Testament himself would enter the catacombs to claim the artifact and would deploy his most powerful forces within the crypts to protect the artifact. Instead Testament sent a large contingent of strigoi under the command of Slayer into the catacombs to distract Jonas and OMEGA while he slipped into the headquarters of the Ordo Divinus Venatorum unnoticed.

Powers and Abilities

Powers

  • Vampire Physiology: Modern vampires are in fact humans who have been infected with the Vampire Virus. Contact with the virus restructures human physiology and results in vampires possessing several superhuman abilities.
    • Immortality: So long they continue to consume blood, vampires will not age beyond the physical state he was in when they are first turned. Vampires who are pure-blood (born vampires) generally stop aging in their mid-to-late twenties.
    • Physical Resilience: Vampires are resilient to most forms of injury (certain exceptions apply). Bullets, blades and blunt objects do little to their bodies.
    • Regeneration: In addition to being virtually indestructible, whatever damage a vampire does in fact suffer can be healed through the consumption of human blood.
    • Superhuman Strength: A vampire's base strength level is several times that of a normal human being and is considered superhuman.
    • Superhuman Stamina: So long as they continue to consume human blood, vampires can function tirelessly without rest or relaxation.
    • Thermal Vision: Vampires are able to extend their vision into the infrared spectrum, allowing them to perceive heat signatures visually in order to better hunt down their prey.
    • Vampirism: In addition to the various mental and physical benefits that vampires are heir to, they also possesses the ability to turn others into vampires as well. Each new vampire is traditionally subservient to the one who "turned" them, but some strong-willed vampires have been known to rebel against their masters.
    • Chimerae Bloodline: All Chimerae vampires are physically stronger than the average vampire, usually having strength rated in the upper levels of Superhuman- Class 1.
  • Demonspawn Physiology: Demonspawn are Prime Plane beings who utilize demonic grafts in order to acquire new abilities. These grafts come is several varieties (dependant upon the type of demon who donated the graft) however because of their extra-planar origin all of them can cause insanity if their use is not properly moderated.
    • Balorian Graft: Reserved for the honored soldiers of Belial, the Balorian Graft is one of the rarest among the Demonspawn. This graft allows Tiernan to increase his strength exponentially and envelop his body in Hellfire. This graft only becomes active when Tiernan ascends to his Melachim Form.
    • Hellfire Projection: Tiernan is able to project large amounts of Hellfire from his hands at his enemies.
    • Demonic Claws: Tiernan has received a demonic graft which enhanced his vampiric claws and as a result the damage done by his claws is not easily healed by natural means.
  • Transformation: Tiernan's body contains massive amounts of Demonic essence and at will he can use that energy to transcend his vampiric form into something much more powerful at great personal cost.
    • Melachim Form: Tiernan is able to ascend beyond his normal form for short periods of time, taking a form more akin to that of a Balor devil. This form is a great drain on Tiernan and he is not able to ascend for several weeks after a transformation.

Abilities

  • Boundless Rage: Over countless millennia of imprisonment, Belial has developed a tremendous rage and hatred which has carried over to Azrael and subsequently Tiernan. Tiernan is able to use this rage to increase his own strength and stamina immeasurably.
  • Master Combatant: Tiernan has inherited an innate ability to fight hand-to-hand from both Belial and Azrael, using this knowledge combined with his brute strength to overpower quicker foes.
    • Weapons Master: Tiernan has become an expert in large weaponry. He has displayed exceptional capability and proficiency with heavy weapons such as Great Axes, Great Hammers, and Two-handed swords.
  • Occult Knowledge: Tiernan has an advanced and in-depth knowledge of demonic nature and the Netherealm thanks to his years under the influence of Belial.

Strength level

  • Superhuman- Potentially Incalculable: The more angry Tiernan gets the stronger he becomes. Since Tiernan's strength is dependent upon his emotions and as such cannot be measured by traditional means. When not utilizing his rage-based strength Tiernan exhibits Superhuman- Class 1 levels of strength.

Weaknesses

  • Blood Consumption: Like all vampires Tiernan is regularly required to consume a few pints of blood every few nights. Failing to do so would cause the vampire to weaken and after an extended period without blood seemingly perish. A vampire's ability to metabolize blood and their frequency of feeding usually varies however depending on a number of factors: Length of time between feedings, damage or injury to the body, resurrection from a near death state, and excessive use of their supernatural abilities and strength.
  • Emotionally Unstable: Tiernan has exhibited an inability to control his emotions, particularly his anger. Although this instability has lessened since Belial's influence was purged by The Nightmare, Tiernan still suffers from debilitating fits of rage on occasion.

Paraphernalia

Equipment

  • Demonscale Armor: Tiernan wears a set or armor forged from the leftover armor and weaponry of the Demonic Horde last invasion attempt. Showing a remarkable resiliancy towards heat and fire, the armor allows Tiernan to channel his Hellfire more efficiently.
  • The Demon's Eye:This object, worn afixed to Tiernan's forehead, is an ancient artifact of Nephilim origins. The Demon's Eye serves as the phylactery for the Angelus Azrael's soul. It was Tiernan's contact with the Demon's Eye which first caused him to manifest his demonic based powers.

Transportation

  • Gate Network: Tiernan often utilizes Enoch's Gate Network to create wormholes which allow him to travel anywhere on Earth almost instantaneously. Tiernan can control the Network via a wrist mounted computer.

Weaponry

  • Phlegethon: Forged in the hellfire of the Netherealm, the Phlegethon is a massive demonic Great Axe which Tiernan carries with him at all times. Able to channel Tiernan's hellfire, Phlegethon is a weapon with massive destructive power.
